Thursday September 15th, 
Where: Cottonwood restaurant 


Cottonwood features live acoustic music on Thursday and Friday evenings.  Reservations are highly encouraged at all times.  Music starts at 7 p.m. in the fireplace room during winter months and moves to the deck with a 6 p.m. start time during warmer months.  “Acoustic Thursdays” feature the best in FREE live acoustic musical entertainment.

11:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. Complimentary guided tours for beginner hikers following a fairly easy traverse on the West ridge of Mt. Pluto at Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort. Leashed four-legged friends are welcome! DATES Offered Thursday - Monday through August 21, and Friday - Sunday from August 26 - October 9. *Hiking pass required. Hiking passes are $6 for adults or FREE for Northstar lodging guests, children 12 & under, and 2011.12 winter ski/snowboard passholders.

Where: Northstar-at-Tahoe


8:00 AM 2-4; 6-12 Hour Multisport Race: kayak, mtb, trail run. The event start and finish are at the Village at Northstar.


Saturday September 17th 
Where: Squaw Valley

11:00 AM to 5:00 PM Meet, greet & sniff. Socialize with friends and animals with wine tasting, vendors and live music at The Village at Squaw Valley. Event benefits the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe.  





Saturday September 17th-18th 
Where: Squaw Valley 


 Tough Mudder is not your average  mud run or spirit-crushing ‘endurance’ road race. Our 10-12 mile obstacle courses are designed by British Special Forces to test all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. Forget finish times. Simply completing a Tough Mudder is a badge of honor. Tough Mudder has raised over one million dollars for the Wounded Warrior Project. WARNING: Tough Mudder is 3-4 times longer and MUCH TOUGHER than a typical mud run such as Warrior Dash. On average, only 78% of participants finish the event. Only those in reasonably strong physical condition should enter.


Sunday September 18th
Where: Emerald Bay 


9:00 AM The Emerald Bay Trail Run starts at Eagle Point and then takes you around Emerald Bay and up the Rubicon Trail to D.L. Bliss State Park to finish at Lester Beach. The course is a 7.5 mile/12Km point to point route. The course is fast with low/moderate climbing.    


Sunday September 18th 
Where: South Lake at Camp Richardson 


9am The Tahoe Fall Classic is a 22 mile paddleboard/standup paddleboard race that starts at 8:00 am, Camp Richardson, South Lake Tahoe and finishes at the state beach, Kings Beach. On-line registration is recommended, visit www.TahoeCup.org

It feels like the last month of Summer in Lake Tahoe





The summer is slowing creeping to an end in Lake Tahoe, don't miss out!! Here are some fabulous activities that you and your loved ones can do. 


Lets start with some hiking trails-




  • Vikingsholm Trail

    • Difficulty: Easy
    • Elevation: 6,230'/6,630'
    • Mileage (one-way): 1 mile
      • View an authentic replica of a Viking castle. Daily tours are given from mid-June through Labor Day. A nominal fee is charged. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the fabulous view of Emerald Bay and Fannette Island from the shoreline of this state park. Hike the short trail to Lower Eagle Falls which begins directly across from the castle. Pets are not allowed. Take Highway 89 north from South Lake Tahoe approximately 9 miles to the parking lot on the right. The parking lot fills up quickly in the summer season, so arrive early.

  • Sugar Pine Point State Park



  • Difficulty: Easy


    • Elevation: Flat
    • Mileage (one-way): .7 mile
      • Contact state park rangers to obtain maps of the many trails located here. The park charges a parking fee for day use.
      • While you're there don't miss a tour of the historic Ehrman Mansion, one of the most beautiful historic summer homes on Lake Tahoe. Open for guided tours  from 10am to 4pm. Tours cost $2.00 per adult and $1.00 for children 12 and under.
      • There is a sand beach with a pier there so you and your family can enjoy great lake views while swimming or tanning. 
      • I would even suggest renting bikes and bringing them down there so that you can ride around and explore the park a little better.


  • Rubicon Trail
    • Difficulty: Moderate
    • Elevation: 6,230'/6,580'
    • Mileage (one-way): 3.1 miles to Emerald Point, 5 miles
      • Dipping up and down along the shoreline of Lake Tahoe, this trail offers some of the most scenic views of the lake. Bring a swimsuit, towel and picnic lunch to enjoy a sunny day at one of the may quiet coves along the way. Take Highway 89 north 10 miles from South Lake Tahoe to D. L. Bliss State Park. There is a fee for day use parking. Pets are not allowed.

    • Nothing like a day on the Truckee River 

  • Raft excursions consist of a leisurely, self-guided, five-mile float down the Truckee River. Our voyage is perfect for family and friends of all ages. You'll cruise through mellow and serene areas with picturesque mountain views and lively little rapids, punctuated here and there with perfect swimming holes and picnic spots. Bring your dogs with you and a lunch and drinks (but remember, NO Styrofoam or glass) or just enjoy the view! The adventure usually takes 2 to 3 hours to complete but is always a blast. They have commercial rafts for rent but they are a little expensive, save yourself a little money and do it the old fashion way buy a tube from the gas station and set sail! 




  • Parasailing, Jet Skiing and Kayaking

  • Experience the thrill of Parasailing over beautiful Lake Tahoe, the Jewel of the Sierra, or splashing through boat wakes on a three seater jet ski enjoying the hot sun and cool water temps!



  • Rent a kayak from the west shore and go on an all day trip over to meeks bay or even DL Bliss state park pack a lunch and bring some waters. 



  • Boating, Swimming, Tanning 










  • Chambers Beach
    • One mile south of Homewood on Hwy. 89
    • It is perfect for sunbathers, swimming, and picnicking. Access is limited to foot or bicycle traffic only, no public parking is available. They also have a great bar with food being served all day, now thats service.
    • Sand Harbor
      • South of Incline Village, NV
      • Featuring: Rest Rooms, Picnic Area, BBQ Grills, Lifeguards and Boat Launch
      • Parking Fee
      • This is by far one of the best beaches in Tahoe 
    • Skylandia Park & Beach
      • 24 acre park located 1.5 miles east of Tahoe City, Hwy 28
      • Skylandia Park provides bike trails, hiking trails and picnicking facilities.
      • The park also features a beach, pier, and swimming.

    • Baldwin Beach
      • Hwy 89, 4 miles North of South Lake Tahoe "Y" Hwy 89/50 Junction
      • Featuring: Rest Rooms, Picnic Area and BBQ Grills
      • Admission fee $3.00, no dogs allowed



  • Emerald Bay Beach

    • Base of Emerald Bay, North of Camp Richardson, Hwy 89
    • Featuring: Rest Rooms, Picnic Area, One Mile Hike, Scenic, Pier and Vikingsholm Castle
